A delicious single cask bottling from Càrn Mòr, forming part of their much loved Celebration of the Cask series.
Auchroisk, pronounced ‘Orth-Rusk’, is an underrated distillery that produces a nutty, heavy style of spirit created through speedy mashing, fermentation and rapid distillation, giving it an almost burnt quality. Diageo’s Singleton and Flora & Fauna series are rare single malt outings for this, whisky which has historically been a part of the J & B blend. The distillery is a relatively recent addition to the industry, having been built in 1972.
This dram has been aged for 15 years in a single Bourbon barrel, having been distilled in September 2003 and bottled in January 2018. This bottling delivers flavours of toasted nuts, cloves, cornbread, cinnamon, vanilla, toffee, chocolate, cream, honey, lemon rind, and some gentle stone fruit notes.
Bottled at a robust Cask Strength of 57% ABV, the whisky is also non chill filtered and natural in colour (as every bottling in this series is).
An intense and satisfying whisky, just 224 individually numbered bottles were produced.
