Our first ‘Big Whisky Weekend’ of 2026 has finished. Nearly 400 drams poured, 55 people from 6 countries came and listened to the stories, facts and information, tasted and enjoyed over 40 different whiskies, gins and port. And one very cute dog! Massive thanks to Finn Thomson who delivered two fantastic sessions, firstly as our ‘Whisky Legend’ on Friday night and for the tutored tasting, last night, of his most recent bottlings. Also a huge thanks to our suppliers who came along, put up with banter and gave our customers a wonderful experience. Jin, Matt, Scott and our own David. Also a thanks to ‘Team Robertsons’ who helped plan and deliver the weekend - Donna and David. Looking. Forward to our next ‘Big Whisky Weekend’ on the 19th & 20th June. Judging for the Scottish Field Whisky Challenge, first round is from the comfort of my kitchen. A great selection so far. And the winner is announced….
Claire from Pitlochry had the unanimous vote of the judges. Lovely colour, taste that was beautifully bitter orange and a lovely cut of peel.
Thanks to all 20 entrants, the quality was excellent and I won’t need to eat for a week now! We will run the competition again next year. The only rule is that the oranges have to be bought from us in the shop.

That was the week that was! Our first ‘Dram and draw’ class in The Bothy was a great success. Fun and educational with the talented Dylan Gibson. Next was a tasting in Aberdeen for group we have known for a number of years now, and lastly we ran the bar in Pitlochry Town Hall for our local Rotary club’s Stovie Supper. Looking forward to hosting a tasting next week for the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society who are having their annual Winter School here in Pitlochry. A bus start to the year. 😁
