34yo Blended Malt Oloroso Sherry Cask
A blended malt whisky is a type of whisky made by blending together single malts from different distilleries, as opposed to a single malt whisky, which is made from malted barley at a single distillery. The key distinction is that all the whiskies in a blended malt are single malts, meaning they are not made with grain whisky (which is a blend of malt and grain whiskies).
Blended malt whiskies are created to achieve a balanced flavor profile, combining the distinctive characteristics of different distilleries’ single malts. This category used to be called “vatted malt” or “pure malt” whisky, but the term “blended malt” was introduced to clarify the distinction from blended whisky (which contains both malt and grain whiskies).
Examples of blended malt whiskies include Johnnie Walker Green Label or Monkey Shoulder.
