PINWINNIE ROYALE Blended Scotch
This bottling is a rare Pinwinnie - long discontinued whisky that was handed over from the original Pinwinnie distiller to Inverhouse and has since been discontinued. A blend of the finest whiskies distilled in the revered custom of Scotland, and bottled by hand at Airdrie in Lanarkshire.
Pinwinnie Distillery were the producers of the much-loved Pinwinnie Royale, a classic and sadly discontinued blended Scotch whisky that was bottled in Airdrie and is remembered for its rich, distinguished character and unmistakable bottle.
This was one of the principal brands of Inver House Distillers Limited, originally set up in 1964 by the American distillers, Publicker Industries Inc. as their UK subsidiary. The latter oversaw the Moffat distillery, blending and bottling complex, which still exists as the international arm of Thai Beverage Public Company (ThaiBev).
It is not clear why or precisely when the blend was discontinued as it was well regarded. The labelling proclaims that the whisky was bottled by hand, which was unusual even as far back as the1970’s.
