GLEN SCOTIA DISTILLERY 1992 MacPhail's Collection 43% abv 70cl
Gordon & MacPhail have released this independent bottling of Glen Scotia as part of their MacPhail's Collection series of single malts. This is a beautiful example of a classic sweet Campbeltown malt, bottled at 43% abv.
The aromas are sugary sweet with floral notes and dried fruit. The palate is warm and buttery with cinnamon spices and brioche buns and honeysuckle, moving to a nutty and chocolatey finish.

Despite having been mothballed several times throughout its history, Glen Scotia is a proud survivor of the early 20th century desolation of Campbeltown, once known as "the whisky capital of the world.” The Kintyre peninsula formerly boasted over 30 distilleries, but by the end of the 1920s, only this and Springbank remained. Shut for most of the 1990s before being re-opened by Loch Lomond Distillers, today it is one of only three in the region, and despite having a prominent portfolio of distillery bottlings in shops today, official releases like this from its previous operational periods are quite rare.
The 8 and 14 year old age-statements made up the Glen Scotia core range under the early days of the Loch Lomond group, eventually both being discontinued in 2005 when a repackaged 12 year old was launched.
