INCHGOWER DISTILLERY 17yo Finn Thomson 44.8% abv 700ml

£90.95

INCHGOWER DISTILLERY 17yo Finn Thomson 44.8% abv 700ml This Inchgower 2009 17 Year Old is a distinctive single cask whisky from Finn Thomson, distilled on 26 June 2009 and bottled on 1 July 2026. Initially matured in a refill hogshead, the whisky was re-racked into an Oloroso sherry cask in July 2024, allowing the final two years of maturation to add another layer of complexity while preserving the character of the spirit. Bottled at 44.8% ABV, this limited release comprises just 303 bottles. The Oloroso sherry maturation contributes delicate dried fruit, toasted nuts and gentle baking spice, complementing rather than overpowering the natural character of the Inchgower spirit.

Built in 1871 by Alexander Wilson, this is one of the few distilleries to have been owned by the local town council which stepped in to save the plant in 1936 when the Wilson family went bankrupt. Two years later, Arthur Bell bought it for the princely sum of £3,000. With the absorption of Bell’s into Guinness and the subsequent purchase by that firm of DCL, Inchgower became part of what is now Diageo. It has always been a significant player in blends, in this case Bell’s, whose own distilleries all shared variations on the ‘nutty-spicy' theme. It also plays a role within the Walker range. One of Diageo’s ‘Flora & Fauna’ range, it is occasionally found (with varying degrees of salinity) from independent bottlers.
