Jane Walker is a collectable Limited Edition of the classic Johnnie Walker Black Label. This whisky is only available in the US (and from Robertsons of Pitlochry in the UK), and was released in support of International Women's Day in 2018. It was re-released in 2019 to coincide with the International Women's march in Washington DC.
In the presentation of this whisky only does the Jane Walker Edition feature a female dandy on the label, one dollar from every bottle sold went to the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund, which is committed to erecting a memorial to America's early women's rights activists (suffragettes) in New York's Central Park.
Introduced back in 1909, Johnnie Walker's twelve-year-old Black Label, one of the timeless classics among blended whiskies, is blended from about 35 different malts and 5 grains, including Aberfeldy, Glenlossie, Craigellachie, Cardhu, Talisker, Caol Ila and Lagavulin.
In 1819, John Walker founded a general store, which also sold whisky, which at the time was blended in a similar way to tea. Its rise as a well-known whisky brand correlated with the phylloxera plague between 1858 and 1863 in France and the resulting cognac shortages. Since 2002, Johnnie Walker has been part of the spirits group Diageo.
